If you want to learn to drive then this book is for you! Hopefully, it will give you an insight of what is in store for you. But, as long as you have an instructor of a high standard, you will achieve your goal.
However, the book would also be suitable for qualified drivers to realise how a learner feels whilst learning. As you read through the chapters you will become to understand how important it is to give the learner in front of you the time to ‘get the car going’. It may be their first lesson! Or, it could be their first time dealing with junctions and/or roundabouts. Do you remember how you felt when you first tackled them?
Plus there are hilarious situations and some not so hilarious! Here are a couple of examples from the book:-
It was 1st April (April Fools’ Day). Her examiner came in followed by another examiner trying to guide him. Hazel’s examiner was wearing black-rimmed glasses with thick glass lenses and was fumbling about, asking where she was, and looking for her in the opposite direction from were she was standing………
“You’ve just hit my car!” she screamed. “What!” I replied in disbelief. “And where did this supposedly happen?” I asked………
Also, have you ever thought about becoming a driving instructor? I was an instructor for 36 years, so it can’t be all that bad! Yes, you will have to take a theory test and two practical tests, but it’s worth it in the end. The practical tests are a driving test to show that you are a competent driver and an instructional test to show how you would teach a learner to drive. You will also need a lot of patience and understanding. You will have a lot of crying with laughter and a lot of joy when a very nervous learner passes their test.
